Matthias C. Kettemann is research programme head at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) and heads research groups focusing on digital rights and internet governance at the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Berlin (Global Constitutionalism and the Internet), and the Sustainable Computing Lab at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Platform and Content Governance). After studying law in Graz, Geneva and at the Harvard Law School, he was postdoctoral fellow at the University of Frankfurt. He was called to give evidence on digital rights to parliamentary committees of the German Bundestag, and has acted as reviewer for DAX companies and as an adviser to the German foreign and economics ministries, OSCE, the Fundamental Rights Agency, the European External Action Service and the Council of Europe in the fields of digital human rights, platform regulation and algorithm governance.
