Further Information
Tamer El Mahrouky is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Tink, a ride-sharing startup based in Cairo, which connects users who belong to similar communities in a cashless experience. Tamer turned ride-sharing into a real-life game, which helps save the environment by reducing the number of empty seats, thus number of cars, thus our carbon footprint. Users can collect tokens and redeem them for trees, free rides, gas, or cash. With just a Facebook page as an MVP, he started the service in Egypt and made thousands of kilometers of rides.
His passion towards Mobility and Traffic solving started 8 years ago, when founded “emshi fe 7artak” campaign (meaning “Drive in your Lane”), and at the age of 24, he was the first Egyptian to stand alone in the middle of the streets of crowded Cairo holding a sign saying "Drive in your Lane" to help in reducing traffic congestion.
Tamer has a bachelor degree in “Engineering” from the German University in Cairo, and post graduate studies in “Social Innovation Management” from Amani Institute in Sao Paulo.
Tamer El Mahrouky was selected as one of the 22 finalists of the MENA Innovation Challenge of 2020 for his start-up Tink.
