Ayman Metwally is a data scientist from Egypt and the Co-Founder of AI-PRO (AI Professionals), a startup operating in the healthcare industry. The healthcare industry is evolving rapidly with large volumes of data and increasing challenges in cost and patient outcomes. Early adopters of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the healthcare space are reaping the benefits in terms of patient care and adding to their bottom-line results. These companies are using AI for a number of scenarios including managing claims, detecting fraud, improving clinical workflows, and predicting hospital acquired infections. AI-PRO, the open source and automation leader in AI, is empowering leading healthcare companies to deliver AI solutions that are changing the industry.

For his company AI-PRO, Ayman is in charge of developing the AI services road-map, sourcing targeted AI solutions, as well astesting and delivering these solutions with corporate clients. He validates AI startup technologies from the around the globe and communicates directly with founders.

For the MENA Innovation Challenge, Ayman Metwally presented his use case of the DUHA AI Healthcare Application. In the health care domain, correct diagnosis for the different diseases play an important role in timely providing correct treatment. The idea is to provide a comprehensive solution, which is able to perform initial diagnosis for diseases by using artificial intelligence to process the patient data which can range from: the patients’ basic information, historical data, symptoms, lab test results and screening results.

The Application is meant to have both a patient and doctor version. It can be further developed for enterprise use by hospitals and medical centers. Only appropriate and needed tests will be recommended, to reduce unnecessary laboratory tests. Thus, costs for patients and insurance companies are optimized. The diagnosis part shall include the patient’s demographic information and historical data for better assessment, as well as required tests and screening and enhanced GUI for the patient and doctor. Laboratory test analysis will be added to support the diseases diagnosis. The screening part will include types like chest X-ray (for diseases like COVID-19) or other cancer types screening tools.
