Layal Bahnam is a program manager at Maharat Foundation, a Beirut-based NGO specialized in advancing freedom of expression and media development in the MENA region. Bahnam has been managing programs led by Maharat to explore ways to innovate to advance media, free flow of information and human rights in the region. Bahnam’s work in Maharat involves resource production, regular training workshops, large scale conferences and advocacy actions for media law reforms and internet freedom. Bahnam is a journalist by profession and her educational background is law.
